VISTA Better Living TM program offers complementary alternative medicine and fitness benefits in 2005
HOLLYWOOD, FL - January 6, 2005 - VISTA announced today the launch of VISTA Better LivingTM, a program designed to promote preventive and personal health management through complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), fitness activities and wellness resources. Consisting of two components - VISTA Better Living CAM and VISTA Better Living Fitness - the program offers members significant discounts on services through a contracted network. VISTA Better Living is an additional benefit of VISTA's comprehensive commercial and Medicare health plans effective January 1, 2005.
"The rising popularity of CAM is generating high interest among consumers looking to improve their health in ways that complement traditional medicine," said Michael Hogan, MD, chief operating officer for VISTA. "Adding a discount fitness club membership with a financial incentive for maintaining an exercise program, along with free fitness classes for Medicare members, is another way VISTA is engaging consumers in personal health management."
VISTA Better Living CAM
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) recognizes the connection between mind and body in the healing process. Many of the therapies teach people how to help manage pain, reduce stress and take a more active role in their health care. VISTA commercial members and eligible Medicare members* can take advantage of discounts up to 30% for various alternative therapies. They will have access to a network of CAM practitioners in over 30 disciplines including acupuncture, massage/body work, mind/body therapies, relaxation techniques, nutritional counseling, yoga, tai chi and Pilates. An award-winning preventive and personal health management website provides members with an online education tool containing an abundance of CAM and wellness related information including a list of network practitioners, healthy food recipes, wellness news and vitamin information.
VISTA Better Living Fitness
Regular exercise can help promote a fit and healthy lifestyle. All VISTA members will have access to a national network of more than 300 participating fitness clubs at a savings of up to 40% of the cost of a one year membership at just one club. All cardiovascular equipment, free weights, strength training equipment and classes are included. Family members can be added for a small additional enrollment fee. VISTA Better Living Fitness also offers free exercise classes for Medicare members. Medicare members can socialize and increase strength and stamina at these classes designed especially for them. Classes will be held at locations throughout South Florida.
*Members of VISTA Choice plans are not eligible for CAM benefits.
